David Bowie original art print

£20.00£140.00

“Heroes: A party of Bowies”

In 2021 on the anniversary of his birthday I day dreamed ‘what would David Bowie wear to a fancy dress party ? What if he turned up in all of his iconic images all at the same time ?!’ The idea of ‘a party of Bowies’ had started to form in my imagination……

My original creation is an A2 size, pen and watercolour illustration. I have drawn 20 Bowies ranging from the 1960s right up to Dark Star with many others including Life on Mars and the Goblin King in between. Which Bowie is your favourite?

In the centre is the ice blue suit from the ‘Life on Mars’ video (still my favourite song). Then there is the Ziggy Stardust body suit designed by Freddie Burretti. I have included a selection of outfits designed by Japanese designer Kansai Yamamoto and inspired by Kabuki theatre for the Aladdin Sane tour. There is the Union Jack coat by Alexander McQueen for Earthling and the blue clown from Ashes to Ashes designed by Natasha Korniloff, Jareth the Goblin king from Jim Henson’s Labyrinth and the blind profit from Black Star.

Did you know Bowie originally wore the eye patch because he had conjunctivitis ! But as the look was so cool he decided to go full space pirate !

Prints are available in a choice of sizes on unframed high quality conqueror lightly textured 300gsm paper. Each print is individually signed on the back.

You could choose the full size A2 (16.5 x 25.4 inch) Giclee option – virtually identical to the original. To qualify for the title of a “fine art giclée print” it has to be made on archival quality coated paper, and printed with pigment based archival inks, which are UV stable.

The quality of the paper or canvas used in a giclee print is very important. Fine art paper mills have been producing mould made artist papers for over 435 years, have an extensive range of fine art papers used in giclee printing. The final result will be a superb giclee print.

We have selected the Enhanced Velvet, 255 gsm – Matt Textured. This is a professional fine art paper made at St Cuthberts Mill in Somerset. It has a velvety mid textured surface, using natural woollen felts and is 100% cotton. This archival grade paper exhibits high whiteness, without the use of optical brightening agents and is buffered with calcium carbonate to combat acid attack that finished prints may encounter from air pollution.

Giclee prints are rolled into a sturdy protective postal tube to be shipped.

Meet the artist

Justine Pateman

I have sketched, drawn and painted things for as long as i can remember. Its been the one continuous life long hobby for me.....and now its my day job.
Growing up on the outskirts of London i was lucky that i could jump on a train and get into the centre to visit all of the galleries and museums quite frequently. I spent many afternoons sketching sculptures and famous works of art.
Formal Art study ended for me after A levels (6th form) i didn't feel engaged for some reason. I had won the school art competition and i guess i must have felt like i had reached my zenith ! Other things then filled my life but i always loved everything that is art.
I love many different genres of music, literature, films, nature and of course Art in all of its forms. What i most admire is how much effort all of the people involved have expended trying to create something different. Some have given their whole lives at great personal expense in the pursuit for something new.
