Rock Heaven – The After Party original artwork

Rock Heaven – the Welcoming Party

Inspired by the music of all the great rock and roll stars who have left us, I’ve imagined them all at a huge party. Janis Joplin is chatting with Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Freddie Mercury and David Bowie having a drink together. Amy Winehouse alongside Michael Hutchence, Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, among others.

I have loved music all of my life and the musicians i have included in the picture are my own personal choice of significant influences.

It has taken me a couple of decades to get to know their catalogue of works, collect and listen to their music, and read up on them where possible. I have been lucky enough to see a few perform live. Their impact on music, culture, free thought and expression have been monumental, which is why I have chosen them.

So, a lifetime of being a fan, the original concept, followed by a couple of months of imaginings, sketching and rethinking. It’s taken a solid month to actually sketch out all of the portraits. It has been hand drawn by me initially using pencil and then using fine line pens, on A1 textured artist paper. It was then painted with watercolours.

It will be signed, titled and dated on the back with my proof of authenticity.

It will then be sealed in a cellophane envelope and shipped in a sturdy postal tube via special tracked delivery.

Meet the artist

Justine Pateman

I have sketched, drawn and painted things for as long as i can remember. Its been the one continuous life long hobby for me.....and now its my day job.
Growing up on the outskirts of London i was lucky that i could jump on a train and get into the centre to visit all of the galleries and museums quite frequently. I spent many afternoons sketching sculptures and famous works of art.
Formal Art study ended for me after A levels (6th form) i didn't feel engaged for some reason. I had won the school art competition and i guess i must have felt like i had reached my zenith ! Other things then filled my life but i always loved everything that is art.
I love many different genres of music, literature, films, nature and of course Art in all of its forms. What i most admire is how much effort all of the people involved have expended trying to create something different. Some have given their whole lives at great personal expense in the pursuit for something new.

Gift wrapping & packaging

There is a gift wrapping option available at the checkout. I can also include gift notes free of charge, and send orders directly to your recipient.

Please ensure that you include your message in a note with your order, and set your delivery address to your recipient's address.

I have been working hard to reduce my packaging and be as green as possible. I have removed bubble wrap and other plastics where possible (any bubble wrap I do use has been re-used from parcels I have received), using bio-degradable and recyclable alternatives such as tissue paper.
