Elton John Rocket Man party original art print

£20.00£89.00

“Rocket man: a party of Eltons”

This is a print of my original pen and watercolour illustration of Elton John in all his flamboyant finery through the years. It was imagined, created and hand drawn by me using fine line pens and painted with watercolours. Arguably one of music’s most fantastically dressed stars. I couldn’t resist the challenge of drawing those wild and detailed costumes. There were so many to chose from though ! I love the crystal covered costume designed by Bob Mackie for his performance at LA dodgers stadium in Oct 1975. The dungarees with the star embroidered shirt he wore for his American debut at the Troubadour in Aug 1970. I had to include Eltons extravagant 50th birthday suit from 1997 when he dressed as the French king Louis XIV with a 3 ft tall wig (topped with a miniature Spanish war ship and cannon !). In the centre he is at his flower festooned piano in an outrageous feathered concoction that he wore performing ‘crocodile rock’ on the muppet show in 1972. My personal favourite is the pinball wizard outfit he wore for Ken Russel’s 1975 film ‘Tommy’ with those fantastic giant Dr Marten boots at a height of 4 feet and 6 inches

You could choose the full size A2 (16.5 x 25.4 inch) Giclee option – virtually identical to the original. To qualify for the title of a “fine art giclée print” it has to be made on archival quality coated paper, and printed with pigment based archival inks, which are UV stable. The quality of the paper or canvas used in a giclee print is very important. Fine art paper mills have been producing mould made artist papers for over 435 years, have an extensive range of fine art papers used in giclee printing. The final result will be a superb giclee print. I have selected the Enhanced Velvet, 255 gsm – Matt Textured. This is a professional fine art paper made at St Cuthberts Mill in Somerset. It has a velvety mid textured surface, using natural woollen felts and is 100% cotton. This archival grade paper exhibits high whiteness, without the use of optical brightening agents and is buffered with calcium carbonate to combat acid attack that finished prints may encounter from air pollution.

Giclee prints are rolled into a sturdy protective postal tube to be shipped.

All paper and card is FSC certified and signed by me on the reverse

Justine Pateman

I have sketched, drawn and painted things for as long as i can remember. Its been the one continuous life long hobby for me.....and now its my day job.
Growing up on the outskirts of London i was lucky that i could jump on a train and get into the centre to visit all of the galleries and museums quite frequently. I spent many afternoons sketching sculptures and famous works of art.
Formal Art study ended for me after A levels (6th form) i didn't feel engaged for some reason. I had won the school art competition and i guess i must have felt like i had reached my zenith ! Other things then filled my life but i always loved everything that is art.
I love many different genres of music, literature, films, nature and of course Art in all of its forms. What i most admire is how much effort all of the people involved have expended trying to create something different. Some have given their whole lives at great personal expense in the pursuit for something new.

I have been working hard to reduce my packaging and be as green as possible. I have removed bubble wrap and other plastics where possible (any bubble wrap I do use has been re-used from parcels I have received), using bio-degradable and recyclable alternatives such as tissue paper.
