‘The Birth of Blondie’

She’s finally finished!
Inspired by Botticelli’s ‘Birth of Venus’ which depicts the goddess arriving at the shore after her birth, when she had emerged from the sea fully-grown in a scallop shell to be dressed in rich clothes by a woman representing Spring. In my reimagined version, Debbie Harry is Venus being born fully grown from a record player in the sea (The Tide is High). Other versions of Debbie are on hand to wrap her in bin bags (Atomic). The background is a direct reference to the Blondie album Parallel Lines.
